About Nova Terra

Our Story

Colorado Earth, which became Nova Terra in June of 2024, was formed in 2017 by Lisa Morey and former business partner Jim Hallock. Located on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, it literally rose from the ashes of the catastrophic Marshall Fire in December of 2021. The Marshall Fire ravaged the suburbs outside of Boulder, burning over 1,100 structures to the ground in less than a single day.

A family who lost their home during the Marshall Fire built back smarter by working with Morey and Colorado Earth to build a fireproof home made from Colorado Earth’s EcoBlox, the sustainable building product Morey helped to develop over 20 years ago in New Zealand. Green home tours featuring the family’s new home now refer to it exclusively as the Colorado Earth Home.

In 2023 Morey and Colorado Earth gained exclusive entry into the National Renewable Energy Lab’s West Gate, a lab embedded entrepreneurship program (LEEP).  Morey and her start-up company have been provided with strategic guidance, mentors, coaching and introductions to investors. LEEP is an extremely successful program with 97% of the companies that have gone through it are still in business. While Morey remains a West Gate ‘cohort’ until Fall 2025, she has in the meantime rebranded Colorado Earth as Nova Terra in order to have a more national presence. 

The ultimate goal at Nova Terra is to sell EcoBlox across the USA using locally sourced materials. By participating in West Gate and in working with NREL and the Colorado School of Mines, Morey is today engineering EcoBlox for various regions, creating a product that is strong, safe, sustainable and situational. Nova Terra is making and selling Colorado Earth EcoBlox today, and is close to announcing a high profile job so keep an eye on this site’s news tab!
